A Peterhead man will celebrate a very special birthday on Monday with fellow residents and carers at the town’s Grangepark Care Home.
Ron Taylor is set to turn 102 and will be enjoying a wee dram to mark the special occasion.
Ron moved into Grangepark back in 2009 with his wife Mabel, who sadly passed away in 2014.
He is a much respected Elder of Peterhead’s Old Parish Church and although not managing to get out and about much these days, he still enjoys the in-house services.
Ron was born on January 11, 1914 an only child.
On leaving school at the age of 16, he began work in his father’s plumbing business before leaving to join the RAF air crews.
Once demobbed in 1967, Ron began working as a water superintendent where he continued to work until his retirement.
Up until the tender age of 96, Ron enjoyed driving around in his car and was very independent.
Ron’s key worker, Pamela Davidson, told the Buchanie: “Even at 102 Ron is still in very good health and enjoys keeping up with the local news by reading his newspapers.
“An, of course, a wee dram goes a long way!” added Pamela.
We wish Ron a fantastic 102nd year ahead and hope he has a wonderful day celebrating his birthday.
