A GROUP of Peterhead singers have proved to be a hit with the community and are to host their third sell-out event later this year.
Allen Stephen, along with mum Carol-Ann, sisters Lauren and Danielle and family friend, Robyn, are the main organisers of the Tribute to the Stars event, and are just five of the ten singers who will be taking part in their third event in two years.
The singers agree that the support they’ve had from when they hosted their first event back in 2010 has been overwhelming.
Allen told the Buchanie: “The main reason it all began is because we all love kareoke and we thought it would be good to do it in a show format whilst raising money for worthy causes.
“As soon as we put tickets on sale the speed they sold was unbelievable and the same has happened again this year.”
This year, the singers chose to give funds raised to Lacey Miller, a 10-month-old from Fraserburgh, who was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia in June this year.
Allen continued: “Lacey is currently going through her third round of chemotherapy at Aberdeen’s Sick Kids Hospital.
“Many people have began fundraising already to help any care she requires in or out of hospital. Also, when Lacey is through with all her medical care, her family are hoping to take her to Disneyland Paris for being so brave throughout her ordeal and Tribute to the Stars would like to help in any way we can.”
Taking to the stage this year will be Allen, Carol-Ann Beveridge, Lauren Stephen, Danielle Stephen, Robyn Mitchell, Chris Forman, Scott Cameron, Laura Graham, Jade Mcgee, Samantha Stephen and Sandy Garvock, who is allowing the group of singers to rehearse at his bar, Voodoo Lounge.
DJ Jasper has provided all of the sound system and lighting for the event itself.
“Jasper had been kind enough to give up his free time to help us rehearse for the event which would be very difficult without him,” said Allen. “I’m really looking forward to the event, the reception we get from the crowd before, during and after we perform is amazing. The tickets only went on sale last week and they have all been accounted for already.
“From the events we’ve previously held, £6,000 has been raised for charities which is amazing.”
A reserve list for tickets for Tribute to the Stars III has been set up, and you can get your name on it by calling Robyn on 07540407864.
The team behind the event are still looking for raffles and would appreciate and any help from local businesses who can call the above number.
