Peterhead and Fraserburgh Gift Tree appeals have been the most successful to-date, with in excess of 3,000 gifts donated and 360 hampers created.
Public generosity reached new levels in 2015 with a vast array of gifts and food donations made to support families and individuals in need of some support this Christmas.
Ken Duncan of Peterhead Projects’ Here for You Partnership said: “This year the appeal has provided support for more than 1,000 children, young adults and families across Buchan and we cannot thank everyone enough for their generosity.
“From schools to churches, businesses to members of the public, everyone has rallied to the Gift Tree Appeal and have helped so many people requiring a bit of extra assistance this festive season.
“This year we had a host of new supporters including ASCO, JBS Engineering, MACBI, Iceland and Subway which provided outstanding volumes of gifts, foodstuffs and financial support.
“Once again HMP and YOI Grampian provided sterling service in the boxing of our hampers and on behalf of everyone at the Gift Tree I would like to thank industries officer Iain Craig and the inmates for their tremendous input. Also, through the efforts of Kathleen Ramsay and the Fife College education team, £171 was raised for the appeal for which we are very grateful.”
The Gift Tree Appeal would like to thank the following groups and businesses for their financial support: Peterhead Port Authority £250, Howden £500, Total £250, Northern Platforms £100, Gray and Adams £250, SSE £250, Stewart & Watson £20, JBS Engineering £500, Apache North Sea £500, Living Waters Church £235, Independent Oilfield Services £200, Wee Wacky Wednesdays £95, anonymous £100, Stagecoach £500 and Fife College £171.
