PETERHEAD Projects recently received a significant donation which will help preserve Buchan wildlife for decades to come.
Local firm Score Group plc has donated the use of a tract of woodland to create a valuable community asset on the outskirts of town.
For around 25 years, the 40-acre area of land, near the town’s Kinmundy Road, will be used to provide woodland walks, a nature trail, and wildlife reserve for the people of Peterhead.
Ian Davidson, managing director of Score (Europe) Ltd, handed over the land to Peterhead Projects last week.
He said: “We at Score Group are very conscious of our position in the community of Peterhead and our environmental obligations. We are committed to making our environment a greener and better place for the future.
“This is also our opportunity to put something back into the community of Peterhead from which we draw a large part of our workforce.”
John Brownlee, managing director of Peterhead Projects, told the Buchanie that the generous donation marked an “exciting time” for the group.
He said: “We are very pleased to receive the woodland, and it is an exciting example of the community response, and so many thanks to Score for their donation.
“It is a major project, we have been given 40 acres of fairly young woodland which we hope to open up for walks in the community. It is completely community-led and the local people will be given the chance to choose how they want to use this piece of land.
“We are now looking for additional volunteers to help us manage it and to come up with new ideas as to how we can best utilise it.”
