Princess Anne made a working visit to Boddam Lighthouse on Friday as part of a tour of Scottish lighthouses.
The Princess Royal, who is patron of the Northern Lighthouse Board, began her tour in Orkney on Tuesday, before visiting Buchan to view lighthouses at Rattray and Boddam late last week.
While there, the princess spoke to some of the dozens of well-wishers who turned out to see her visit, including children from the local playgroup, nursery and primary school.
Mel and Sheila Priest, who own the Buchan Ness Lighthouse Holidays chalets, said: “It was great to see Princess Anne come to Boddam.
“During the visit, former lighthouse keeper Jim Aitken presented her with a book written by his wife, Margaret, about life in the lighthouse industry.”
The Princess Royal is aiming to visit every lighthouse in Scotland.
