A KEEN Peterhead runner and Jogscotland leader is tackling the London Marathon next month in aid of the Epilepsy Society.
Andy Davidson’s daughter suffered a seizure almost three years ago and since then he has been acutely aware of the great help and service the society provides.
He explained: “When my daughter suffered a seizure it was quite a scary experience for her and for us, especially as we did not know initially what was wrong. Fortunately there has been no re-occurence and hopefully it will turn out to be an isolated incident. She is very fortunate.
“My hope is that raising funds for the Epilepsy Society will help them to help and support other sufferers, and aid research to prevent or reduce the number of cases.”
As part of his fundraising efforts he is holding a race night at Buchanhaven Hearts Social Club on Friday, March 29 at 7.30pm - tickets costing £5 each.
Andy told the Buchanie: “There will be a disco provided by Stuart Wood and stovies provided courtesy of Buchanhaven Hearts Social Club.
“The evening will comprise six horse races, where people can place bets and enjoy the excitement of following their favourite, or purchase horses to have the chance to win a cash prize as the winning owner. There will also be a raffle on the night.
“Each race will have a title sponsor, which I have still to finalise, but so far includes confirmed generous sponsors in Bill Mackie Engineering, Ultimate Chauffeur Drive and Northern Platforms and Stagings.
“I am very grateful for the backing I have received so far and hope to see l;ots of local folk down at the Heartis Social Club on the 29th.”
