Work set to get underway at Maud Station Underpass

Buchan area councillors are to be asked to give the go-ahead for refurbishment work to Maud Station underpass.

The underpass takes the public road remote footpath between Station Road and Deer Road East under the Formartine and Buchan Way.

Members of the Buchan area committee will hear on Tuesday that In-Specc have been commissioned to provide Aberdeenshire Council with a comprehensive professional service in connection with protective coatings for metal structures.

In-Specc was asked to carry out an inspection of the Maud Station Bridge. It was discovered that the bridge’s protective coating system had failed and it was recommended this be replaced to prolong the life of the structure and improve its appearance.

The re-coating of bridges involves the complete removal of aged coatings prior to renewal of protective systems.

During the works public will be excluded from the area. The costs of the works is estimated at £25,000 and will be met from general savings that are now been predicted from other schemes in the Capital Bridges & Structures allocations.

Members will be asked to approve the project at Tuesday’s meeting.
