Strichen Community Park Company has recently been granted ownership of Strichen Town House, as it has now become surplus to the requirements of Aberdeenshire Council, which has managed the building since 1975.
The Park Company is currently undertaking a business plan for the development of the Town House, which will enable them to apply for major funding for the development project.
Chairman of the Town House Working group, Robert Chapman, said: “We think the Town House should house a local heritage centre and community room upstairs.
“We also need to develop the ground floor as a workspace to be let to out commercially in order that the building can be financially viable. It is really important that we know how the local residents feel the building should be used in the future.
“Over the past few weeks residents of Strichen and the surrounding area should have received a questionnaire about their views on the future use of the Town House and I would urge anyone who hasn’t returned it to do it now. Please have your say - your views count!”
The questionnaire can also be completed online at: www.surveymonkey.com/s/strichentownhouse.
