North East MSP Christian Allard has gone the whole of 2015 without taking an alcoholic drink.
The SNP MSP is urging a change in our drink culture in 2016 saying “in Scotland we need to change our relationship with alcohol.”
Mr Allard welcomed a recent report which showed Scotland was leading the way in taking a strong, evidence based approach to tackle alcohol misuse.
However he said an average of around 22 people a week still die because of alcohol.
This time last year, the Scottish Government lowered the drink-driving blood alcohol limit to 50mg per 100ml of blood. He said: “Now we are in the festive season, it is time for people with no alcohol problem to step up to the plate – it is time for us all to change our attitude with alcohol to make life easier for the many who do have a problem with alcohol.”
