The UK Parliamentary General Election will take place on Thursday, May 7 and Aberdeenshire Council is urging voters to make sure they are registered to vote in time.
Anyone who is not already on the electoral register and wants to vote in the General Election must do so immediately if they don’t want to miss out.
The deadline for registration is Monday, April 20 and if you wish to register you can now do so online.
Registering online takes around five minutes and all that is required is your name, address and National Insurance number.
You can register to vote online by visiting the website at https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
“If you are not already on the electoral register by the application deadline, you won’t be able to vote,” warned Electoral Registration Officer for Grampian, Ian Milton.
“Over the last week poll cards began being distributed to those already registered to vote in the Banff and Buchan, Gordon, and West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine constituencies.
“If you have not received a poll card I recommend that you register as soon as possible.
“Do not leave it to the last minute, added Mr Milton.
If you cannot go online to register, you can request a paper form from your local registration office, just call (01224) 664848 or (01261) 815516.
