New members are being sought for Peterhead Community Council.

The community council has recently undergone a number of changes and is now in need of new community-spirited folk to come forward in order that the group can maintain its position as a statutory body - the first tier of government.

Anyone who is registered on the electoral roll for the Peterhead North and South Wards is eligible to put their name forward.

These two wards not only cover the town area but also extend out along the River Ugie, encompassing Tortorston and much of Blackhills before turning back to Sandford Bay and the town.

Recently Peterhead Community Council was able to bring about a change in specification for the Queen Street pavements and also instigated the process of clearing debris from a number of blocked rain water guttering in the town centre as well as the improvement in the number and quality of the planters.

The community council has also been involved in all the aspects relating to the town centre improvements and has strong representation on the working party for the proposed Community and Sport development at Catto Park.

If you are interested in Peterhead and its community, if you live or have a business in the area and are registered on the Electoral Roll then go along to see the community council in operation, or speak with your local community councillor.

Peterhead Community Council meets at 7pmevery third Wednesday of the month at Arbuthnot House.
