MEMBER of the Buchan area committee will be asked to give approval for the upgrade of windows at Mintlaw Academy.
The committee, meeting in Peterhead later today (Tuesday), will be asked to approve a tender submission from Muirfield Contracts Ltd, in the amount of £526,190.69 for the works.
The window upgrade works were identified as part of the Education, Learning and Leisure Asset Management Progr amme.
The tender from Muirfield Contracts Ltd is within 25% of the originally-reported estimate, however as this tender sum exceeds £250,000 and in compliance with financial regulations the project has been submitted to committee for approval.
The windows will be double glazed with thermally broken aluminium frameswith polyester powder finish. The thermal properties of the double glazing complies with the current industry standards and the increased insulation values for the windows will lower costs by reducing the energy consumption of the building.
The contract acceptance will be issued week commencing April 29, while works on site will commence week beginning une and will be complete week ending October 4.
The project will be subject to regularproject meetings to ensure works are completed within contract period.
Tender documents were put out to a total of seven contractors with Muirfield Contracts Ltd the preferred bidder.
