Peterhead's Relay for Life raised more than 180,000 for Cancer Research UK.

We are delighted to report that the final total raised by the Relay For Life Peterhead is £183,143, writes event Chair Lorraine Coleman.

This is outstanding as Peterhead has beaten their own UK record which they held for Relays who operate annually.

A great thank you goes to all the 22 teams, 51 survivors, 385 participants, sponsors, volunteers and public who supported this fantastic event.

The teams worked all year fundraising and showed a terrific spirit throughout.

Christina Keith who is the Relay’s Cancer Research UK fundraising volunteer manager said: “We are solely reliant on donations to fund our lifesaving research so we are thrilled at the amount raised at Cancer Research UK’s Relay For Life Peterhead.

“The community really came together to support this amazing event and it was a truly memorable and enjoyable 24 hours. Thank you to everyone involved and we hope this encourages even more people to sign up for Relay For Life 2014.”

Next year’s Relay will be on July 5 and 6.

We welcome anyone who would like to help us to raise the much appreciated funds for Cancer Research UK.
