Visitors to Peterhead’s Landale Road Gardens are in for a treat thanks to efforts of the Prince’s Trust Team 38.
The team have created a freshly painted mural at the gardens with help from P7 pupils from Peterhead Central School.
Team 38 organised a Quiz Night at The Clerkhill Inn to raise the funds needed to buy materials for their community project.
The Quiz Night attracted 20 teams and packed out the Lounge, and the team raised £685 on the night and received donations which gave them a final total of £985.
Team Leader, Tev Warrander, said: “Team 38 have done a fantastic job taking on this project, they invited local businesses to their team room and asked them to present a project idea and they were able to pick a project that they felt would have an impact in their community.
“The weather wasn’t always on their side but they were still able to complete it within the timescale they had and the teamwork and determination they showed was excellent to see.”
Tev added: “It was great to see the local community showing an interest in what the team were doing and I think this helped motivate them and has given them the confidence to take into the second half of the Team Programme.”
Ken Duncan of the Here For You Partnership, which has coordinated volunteer assistance to maintain the gardens, said: “On behalf of all those involved in the gardens I would like to thank each and every one of the Team 38 members who worked tirelessly to complete the mural.”
“It has added a real splash of colour to an otherwise drab and unsightly area – and will provide the perfect backdrop for Central School’s outdoor classroom for years to come.”
Team 38 would like to thank everyone for their generous donations and support which enabled them to complete their community project.
The team will host their Final Presentation on Tuesday, April 19, at the Apex Church in Peterhead.
