Take a walk at Mintlaw's Pitfour Lake to raise funds for cancer research
Relay for Life Peterhead is hosting a fundraising walk at Pitfour Lake, near Mintlaw, at the end of the month.
The walk is on Sunday, May 30, from 9am to 4pm.
Mhairi Stephen, media chair for Relay for Life Peterhead, said: “We want to raise money for a cause close to a lot of our hearts – Cancer Research.
"One in two of us will be affected by cancer in our lives, and we want to try and reduce this number as much as possible.
"That, however, takes a lot of money, dedication, support and hard work from enthusiastic fundraisers like yourselves.
"We want you, your family and friends to come and join us and walk around a stunning lake and raise some money for CRUK at the same time.
"It’ll be a way for us to be together again before the Relay on Saturday, July 3, which is obviously still looking like it’ll be different from usual given the government restrictions etc.”
Registration for the walk is now open at www.cancerresearchuk.org/get-involved/find-an-event/pitfour-lake-walk.
Registration is £5 per adult and £3 per under-18.
For safety, there are some limits on how many people can walk within an hour timeslot, so fundraisers are being urged to sign up as soon as possible.
Current government guidelines allow for groups of no more than six adults from six different households, so this will have to be adhered to when walking.
Mhairi added: “As if raising money for Cancer Research UK Relay for Life Peterhead during a stunning walk around a picturesque local lake isn’t enough magnetism to draw you in on its own, a drink and a delicious home baked fine piece is also included in your registration fee.
"There will also be the opportunity to win some amazing prizes in our raffle (thanks to very kind donations of local businesses and fundraisers); the opportunity to buy some CRUK merchandise if you wish; and as always, the choice to buy some of these delicious home bakes, toffee and fudge to take home to enjoy after the fact too.
“So come on out to Pitfour Lake on Sunday, May 30 and make a difference to your own, and the lives of others.
"We look forward to seeing you there.”
