The Creepy Clown craze that has caused mayhem across parts of the UK has taken a new twist in Peterhead.
Blue Toon man Kevin Anderson was driving down the town’s West Road on Tuesday morning when he was passed by a delivery van with a Scream mask pinned to the passenger side headrest.
A shocked Mr Anderson took to social media to report his encounter adding: “It was made to look like a scary passenger. Get a grip!”
He told the Buchanie: “I don’t think it was a local delivery van and unfortunately I didn’t get the company name.
“It’s absolutely crazy after all the carry on with clowns. It’s the same thing to be honest.
“It was just one of those things...did I just see that?”
Commenting on the frightening craze, Superintendent David Duncan of Police Scotland told the Buchanie: “We have had a few sporadic reports of individuals dressed as clowns in some areas in Scotland.
“It is assessed that there is a current trend of similar incidents on social media, many of which have been confirmed as hoaxes and emanate from overseas.
“The reports which have been made to local police officers are being investigated and do not specifically involve threats or violence.
“However, any person seeking to cause distress and potential harm to anyone should be aware that police will take action.”
Superintendent Duncan added: “If anyone has any concerns they should report the matter to police.”
