One of the finalists in this year’s Inspiring Aberdeenshire Awards is Modo.
The theatre group has been shortlisted in the ‘Best of Buchan’ category and will be hoping to walk away with the title when the winners are announced at Fyvie Castle on June 17.
Modo’s creative director, Martin Danziger, told the Buchanie: “We are delighted to be nominated for this award and it is a great boost to the volunteers, participants and staff who have put in so much energy, enthusiasm and passion over the year to make the work so successful.”
Last year Modo delivered more than 800 workshop hours to more than 11,000 participants with a total audience in excess of 30,000 and accredited more than 200 young people for their achievements.
The CircoModo pgoramme grew to have more than 300 regular attenders while Drumming Up Peterhead saw the group host 18 separate events in Drummer’s Corner on Saturday afternoons.
Oot and Aboot engaged more than 150 young people in positive activities in anti-social hotspots and won a CoSLA Excellence Award, while the annual Aden-een Shell Fireworks parade was the biggest and best yet!
“As an organisation that receives no core funding and so is reliant on commissions, grants and donations to mark our work possible, a nomination for such a prestigious award is fantastic recognition of the value of what we do, and valuable support in our efforts to raise the funds to carry on our work,” added Mr Danziger.
