A Peterhead group have presented a cheque to one of the local Cub Scout Leaders in recognition of his recent stem cell donation.
The Mormond Hill Bluebell Lodge No 10 of Free Gardeners of Scotland presented the cheque to Corey Tocher recently.
The 21-year-old is also a member of the Free Gardeners group.
Worthy Master Michael S Carnegie of the Free Gardeners said: “It came to our notice at our last meeting on Friday, May 2o, that one of our members, namely Corey, had recently travelled to London and had donated stem cells for the Anthony Nolan Trust to try and save the life of a dying adult.
“The Lodge was so impressed by Corey’s initiative in this unselfish act that we decided to help him in his other great passion, his Cub Pack in Peterhead, so it will be our pleasure to present him with a cheque for £100 for his Cubs.”
Mr Carnegie added: “In the short time that Corey has been a member of the Free Gardeners, he has shown that he is truly living up to our principles, namely charity and a desire to help others, so we hope that this small donation will help his Cubs.”
