Former Peterhead singer Mayah aims to top the country charts again
A talented teenage singer who grew up in Peterhead is set to release her second single this week – and is hoping it will be a chart topper just like her debut song.
Mayah Herlihy – whose self-penned debut single ‘On My Way’ went to No.1 in the UK Country Charts and now has over 10,000 plays on Spotify – is releasing her second single, 'Follow The Sunshine', this Friday March 26.
‘Follow the Sunshine’, which, like her debut single, is being released by Main St Records, was included in Glasgow venue King Tut's Wah Wah Hut International Women's Day playlist, and is currently available to pre-order on Amazon and iTunes.
Mayah said: "I actually wrote ‘Follow the Sunshine’ whilst in school at break as an idea just shot into my head and I had to start writing or it would of slipped out of my head. It’s about taking the right path in life and achieving your goals and wishes.
"This song really means a lot to me, especially the line ‘been lost in a puzzle in my own head’. It really explains so much in only a short line, and when you feel like that it is very hard to try to see the bright side of things, but that’s where following the sunshine and happiness really matters the most!"
Mayah, who recently joined events and promotions company 23 Music Management, was brought up in Peterhead before moving with her family to North Lanarkshire at the age of 12.
She attended St Fergus Primary School and performed in the Red Brick Theatre Group and Peterhead Panto, as well as winning Scottish Week’s Peterhead’s Got Talent in 2017.
