Buchan Radio gets perfect new studios
A North-east community radio station has made a sound move into new premises in Peterhead.
The radio station – which has been on air for eight years – has found a new home in Wilson Street and the move could be the cataylst for future growth.
Buchan Radio was started in Farmers Lane in 2013 by John Cropley, who sadly passed away last year, and Ronnie Arthur, and is proud of the service it offers the local community.
Ronnie said: “John was always saying we could be doing with a bigger place as we had so many plans.
“Back in 2016, Buchan Radio was left looking for a new building, so we finally got one just round the corner in Broad Street. Over the last year, though, Buchan Radio has been looking to move into a bigger building.
“We had plans to expand and we were really looking for a new place to call home.
“We looked at a few places, but none of them were really suitable for what we needed to do.
“Then we spoke with a local businessman in town and managed to secure our new place up in Wilson Street in Peterhead – and it is just perfect!”
The radio station’s new home now boasts a total of three new studios, a live lounge area and plenty of working office space.
And with plans to extend its area of coverage in the near future, Buchan Radio sees its new premises as the ideal place to further its reach to a bigger audience.
Buchan Radio broadcasts hit music from the last 60 years, as well as specialist programmes, news and local community information, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Unlike commercial radio, Buchan Radio is a community station, which means it is a non-profit organisation.
As well as informing and entertaining the people of North-east, the station plays an active part in the local community and provides training opportunities.
You can listen to Buchan Radio across Peterhead and the surrounding areas on 107.9fm or via its website www.Buchanradio.co.uk.
