The Mintlaw and Central Buchan Initiative (MACBI) community facility is taking shape and members of the public are being invited along to check it out.
An Open Day will take place on Saturday, October 5 from 11am to 3pm for both members of the public and local businesses to go along and find out more about what the new facility has to offer.
Various events will take place on the day and there is a possiblilty that those going along will be given a tour of the building.
Work began on the site in May after ten years of waiting for MACBI Chairman and Councillor, Norman Smith.
Speaking about the open day, cllr Smith said: “It is a chance for people to give their views, see what is on offer and the facilities available.
“This is a huge step forward for Buchan to have this facility and I hope the public and members of the local business community will come along.”
MACBI Director, John Pascoe praised the work done so far: “Bancon are progressing well on site and they are working to schedule.”
Various rooms are taking shape within the building including changing rooms, toilets, multi-purpose facilities, cafe and soft-play area. Work is also underway on the upstairs multi-gym which will look down on the hall.
The centre’s changing and catering facilities will be open to users of the existing adjacent all-weather pitch.
The community and sports facility is expected to hold 300 to 400 people upon completion.
Cllr Smith added: “This is ten years in the making and it is really good to see a building on the ground and we hope it will be finished by February 2014.”
