A new adult drama group is about to open its doors in Peterhead for a trial period.
It is to be run as an outreach group from Willowbank Centre but is open to any member of the public over the age of 16 who has a passion for or an interest in drama.
Centre manager, Una Simpson, said: “We’ve had many successful shows over the years which have been devised and rehearsed here at Willowbank Centre then performed at the Community Centre Theatre or around schools.
“We felt the time was right to have a fully integrated community drama group, which would meet weekly in the heart of Peterhead.
“We are looking for adults of all ages and abilities, no experience necessary, all we ask is that people have a genuine interest in all things drama – whether that be backstage or treading the boards.
“The sessions will be free of charge and run on a trial basis to gauge interest.”
Morag Skene, All Stars Drama and Show Group director at Willowbank, who will be running the new group, said: “This could be a new and exciting challenge for people who have had little or no experience of performing.
“The group will be open to absolutely anyone who feels they would like to try their hand at drama and although actual cast places will be limited to 12 there is always room for those willing to help backstage – props, costume, make-up, set design, stage-manage, lighting and sound.
“I am also hoping the group will eventually involve musicians, dancers and singers, even for short-term projects.
If you feel you would like to be involved in any way, why not go along to the Trinity Church and have a coffee and chat between 10.30am and 11.30am on April 21, and register your interest. If you can’t make it on that date but are interested or would like more information please phone Willowbank Centre on 01779 838301 between 10.30am - 4pm and ask for Morag Skene.
