Two Buchan friends are set to take on a 630 mile cycle challenge across the West side of Scotland this week in aid of three charities.
Paul Finnie and Stuart Watt, both of Mintlaw, set off from Stranraer on Saturday morning and aim to reach John O’Groats today (Tuesday).
They will then drive to the West side of Skye and from there, they will leave from Dunvegan and will reach the Buchan Braes hotel in Boddam on Friday, August 15.
The duo are taking on the cycle challenge to raise funds for local charity Kayleigh’s Wee Stars, Mintlaw Boys Club and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Kayleigh’s Wee Stars was set up to provide financial support to help families whose children have been given a terminal diagnosis.
Money donated via Kayleigh’s Wee Stars can be used to fund trips and adventures, or simply help take the financial strain off families who need to provide care for their children.
Stuart said: “Having been greatly affected by the song “I’ll see Your face Someday” as well as the work of Kayleigh’s Wee Stars, Paul was compelled to do something to raise support for what is a fantastic charity.
“I’ll be alongside Paul on the road, and his Dad, Arthur, and eldest son Macaulay will be nearby with a support vehicle.”
Stuart and Paul have a charity Facebook page that they will update as much as possible throughout their journey with pictures as well as uploading maps showing their route for each day.
