Jackson Trawls Director Stephen Buchan has raised £19,500 for charities as a result of successfully completing the 960 mile cycle ride from John O’Groats to Lands End in 9 days (FN 3rd June 2011).

The money raised by Stephen Buchan will be equally donated to three charities; The Fishermen’s Mission; Macmillan Cancer Support and the Good Shepherd Ministries.

The latter provides funding for Operation Mobilisation for mission work in India, which by building and equipping Good Shepherd Community Churches in deprived areas such as Mumbai, helps children to be schooled and adults are taught skills to help them find work.

After the donating account was closed last month Stephen Buchan said, “I would like to thank everyone who supported me and helped raise funds for the three charities. The messages of encouragement received before and during the run were much appreciated at the end of a tiring day, and provided valuable motivation for the following day. Thank you all.”

The gruelling ride require Stephen Buchan to complete around 110 miles a day in the company of another 460 riders sleeping in tents at designated campsites at the end of each night in the second of four similar annual events organised by Deloitte called Ride Across Britain, in support of the British Paralympics team.
