A Peterhead woman is preparing to compete in the Miss Crown and Glory Scotland pageant in Glasgow later this year.
Kirsty Anderson (25) first heard about the pageant last year and decided to take part after a bit of deliberation and encouragement from her friends.
She said: “One of the main things that stood out for me was the fact Crown and Glory has done so much for Dean’s Journey, a section of Solving Kids Cancer, and seeing how much Dean and his family were thankful for what had been done for them.”
Kirsty is no stranger to pageants, having previously competed in two and she gained awards in both.
She said: “I’m so excited for Crown and Glory. It’s been a goal of mine for a while now to enter and I never dreamed of being lucky enough to get a place in the finals, it really cannot come round fast enough!
“On pageant day itself there are several rounds: interview, introductions, fashion wear, swim wear and evening wear.
“The most difficult bit is finding the perfect evening gown.”
Kirsty has an online donation page at www.justgiving.com/KirstyCGS.
She has also organised a family fun event at the Rescue Hall on Saturday, July 30 from 9.30am to 1.30pm.
There will be stallholders, owls, bouncy castles and face painting for the kids, and plenty home bakes for the big kids among us to enjoy.
She will also have a raffle and will sell charity wristbands and football squares.
Kirsty added: “I’m determined to do as much as I can to raise as much money for Dean as possible.”
Miss Crown and Glory Scotland 2016 will be held on Sunday, September 11.
