A Stuartfield resident has received a very special book from Italian man Giuliano Magri which includes the story of his visit to Scotland.

Mr Magri’s father and grandfather spent time at the POW camp at Stuartfield many years ago.

On February 13, 2011, Mr Magri arrived in the Buchan village to find information on what happened to his family members and how they were treated.

After getting nowhere, two ladies suggested he speak to Billy Rennie, who supplied Mr Magri with photos, other details and they even visited the camp site.

Three years on Mr Magri compiled a book, “Stories and Testimonies by Giuliano Magri - Tales of Magri Giulio, Magri Mario and Bianchini Luigi”, and sent just four english copies to Stuartfield.

Billy owns one copy and another has been gifted to a family in Stuartfield.

The other two will be used for educational purposes.

Mr Magri and his family are looking to trace a woman named Juna.

They don’t have a lot of information about her, only that her father is named John and her mother is Joanna.

It is believed Juna had been in the Stuartfield area in previous years but her current whereabouts are not known.
