A youngster from Maud recently took part in a step count challenge in memory of her late grandad.
Isabelle Curno (7) decided she wanted to do the challenge to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Her beloved grandad died of cancer on Christmas Eve in 2015.
Isabelle said: “I miss him very, very much and I get very sad when I think of never seeing him again.”
She set herself a target of 30,000 steps and aimed to complete the challenge in just 12 hours.
Isabelle started her step challenge on February 4 and she did a total of 30,062 steps in 12 hours and 12 minutes.
She had aimed to raise just £100 but as the Buchanie went to print she had raised a fantastic total of £706.
She now wants to continue fundraising, so she will have a stall at Maud Primary School’s coffee evening on May 11.
Isabelle wants her stall to have a fun theme as her grandad was the life and soul of any situation and was “ lovely and funny”.
She will split the proceeds between Cancer Research and the Maud School Laptop fund.
Isabelle’s parents said: “We’re obviously extremely proud of Isabelle and her 6-year-old sister who practised with her and will be helping with the stall.”
Isabelle wants to be a research scientist when she grows up and she is currently a member of MASA, a stem project in the village.
