Home-Start appeal for new volunteers

SUPPORT group, Home-Start are appealing for new volunteers and have organised a training course for those interested.

Established in 1995, Home-Start works to support local families through hard times.

At the heart of the organisation are a team of home-visiting, dedicated volunteers who support families throughout Fraserburgh, Peterhead and surrounding areas.

If you would like to have the opportunity to help a family deal with the demands and difficulties of family life, by providing non-judgemental, emotional and practical support to a parent who has at least one child under the age of five, Home-Start can train and support you to this very rewarding work.

Due to demand for the service, Home-Start are now recruiting further volunteers and the next training course is scheduled to commence on Monday, April 22. The course is free and designed to be interesting and informative.

Home-Start has a celebrity fan in the shape of Jo Frost (aka Supernanny) who said: “I fully support Home-Start; I think what it does is absolutely fantastic.

“Some families need added support and, in my work, I’ve referred a lot of families to Home-Start because they are so good at providing help where it is needed.

“I’m keen to do all I can to promote awareness of what the charity does.”
