TWO PETERHEAD residents have raised money for Cancer Research by walking the Buchan Formartine way.

The pair walked the 38 miles from Dyce to Peterhead and managed to do it in 14 3/4 hours.

Evelyn Watson and her friend Isobel raised £1,340 for the charity by walking along the old railway line. This is not the first time they have raised money for charity as they did the walk a few years ago too.

Both ladies are 70 this year and do a 20 mile walk together each week to keep them fit.

Evelyn said: “We got the bus to Dyce at 6am and then set off from there at 7.30 am and we got into Peterhead at 10.15pm. We just collapsed on the sofa and a pear cider to celebrate.”

“I would never have done this walk without my walking buddy Isobel, I just couldn’t have done it on my own. She encouraged me. I would like to thank Isobel and everyone else that sponsored us for all their support.”
