A Buchan family is to appear on a new programme for STV.
The Mackie family will be appear on the last in the series of Coached off the Couch, which is due to air at 8pm on Friday October 12 on STV.
Graeme and Linda Mackie took part along with their three children, Liam (14), Gemma (11) and Lauren (6).
The series has followed six families who want to become fitter and healthier together.
The idea to take part came when Graeme saw an advert on STV that was looking for families to participate. He then emailed STV and was sent an application pack.
An STV producer visited the family before informing them they had been chosen to take part.
The Mackies were told by the makers of Coached off the Coach that their activities would be running and surfing, as well as a third, wildcard challenge.
The family undertook their running challenge at Catto Park, where they were joined by professional runners Liz and Elish McColgan.
They were then filmed surfing at Fraserburgh beach. They were supported by Mark “Scratch” Cameron and Jamie Bain, Scottish Senior Champion and Scottish Junior Champion respectively.
The family’s wildcard sporting activity was karate. Their karate class was held in the new fitness centre in Fraserburgh and, whilst there, the family joined a junior karate class.
The Mackies were filmed from May through to the end of July.
Commenting, Linda said: “We really enjoyed the experience. Liam and Gemma enjoyed the surfing and Lauren liked the karate. In years to come we will be able to look back on this as a family.”
Graeme added: “We started the health-kick ourselves but Coached off the Couch helped us to continue. STV are already thinking about making a catch up series.”
