Hard work of young people to be honoured at Youth awards

Young people will be honoured for the dedication they show to their communities at the annual Aberdeenshire Youth Council Awards.

The second annual awards ceremony will be held at Inverurie Town Hall onNovember 26, at 6.30pm.

The event celebrates the successes of Aberdeenshire’s young people and recognises the many hours they dedicate to improving their local area.

Council Leader Jim Gifford will attend the event, along with councillors Isobel Davidson, Ron McKail, Paul Johnston, Alison Evison and Martin Ford, and director of education, learning and leisure Maria Walker.

Entertainment will be provided by a number of talented Aberdeenshire young people.

The Aberdeenshire Youth Council Awards features six categories:

·Citizenship (sponsored by Dialogue Youth)

· Enterprise (sponsored by Aberdeenshire Council)

· Health (sponsored by NHS Grampian)

·Volunteering (sponsored by Volunteer Centre Aberdeenshire)

·Unsung Hero (sponsored by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service)

· The Arts and Sport (sponsored by Aberdeenshire Alcohol & Drug Partnership)

Chair of Aberdeenshire Youth Council, Luke McLeod, said: “This is a great opportunity for the youths of Aberdeenshire to be recognised for their hard work and commitment.”
