Are you interested in growing your own fruit and veg but don’t have the room?

Would you like to save money by growing your own? Or perhaps you would like the opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people, reduce stress, improve well-being, are get some exercise whilst enjoying nature?

Whether you’re an individual interested in obtaining an allotment or perhaps an organisation, school or community group that is interested in being involved with a community garden, the newly formed Aden Community Allotment Association (ACAA) wants to hear from you.

Following the positive feedback to the recent public consultation, completion of the Aden Allotments & Community Gardens Report, support from Aberdeenshire Council, and development of the Aden Community Allotment Association, it has been decided to go ahead with developing allotments and community gardens in the grounds of Aden Country Park.

It is now imperative that the Aden Community Allotment Association establishes what size of plot people require and how many people in total are interested in either obtaining an allotment or being involved with a community garden.

This information is crucial not only for defining how large an allotment and community garden site is required, but also to aid the planning application, and the amount of funding required to make the idea a reality.

Leigh Minion, chair of Aden Community Allotment Association, said: “This is a really exciting opportunity for local people to get involved with growing their own food.

“At this stage of the development we need to get a clear picture of how many people are keen to get an allotment or community garden, along with what size of a plot they want. This in turn will then help us to plan ahead and apply for the appropriate funding required”.
