PETERHEAD McDonald’s workers are set to go to the Olympics.
Lisa Simpson and Liva Spolite both work at Peterhead’s McDonald’s and have been singled out to work at the Olympics from 87,000 employees.
Lisa said: “You had to have been an appointed employee of the month last year and those 12 for our restaurant were whittled down to five.
“A ‘super team’ event in the Union Street McDonald’s, Aberdeen, was set up to pick the winners and the teams of five from other McDonald’s across the area battled each other in shifts. Each group had an allotted time and were assessed on their individual performance. It all just felt like a normal working day, we did have to do an exam as well. I was second from the top across the country in the exam so to me that was an achievement in itself.”
Lisa said about going to work in London and the chance to see some of the events: “I don’t know what to expect. I will be happy to just see anything.”
Liva said: “I thought they were lying to me when I got the email, I thought I couldn’t be going. My boyfriend is very jealous of me too. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity and I plan on walking round London as much as I can.”
