AN 8-year old boy from Mintlaw recently took part in his very own sponsored climb in order to raise funds for the youth of Mintlaw.

Cameron Rawson, who attends Mintlaw Primary school, decided to climb the Munros after his Granny and Granda Doreen and Raymond put the idea forward to him, and along with their help and dog Bracken’s, Cameron climbed Beinn Glhas (3619ft) and Ben Lawers (3983ft) on August 5.

A football lover, Cameron decided that the biggest chunk of his money would go to Mintlaw Boys Club who received £730. He also wanted to help other children in the village and gave £200 to Mintlaw Anchor Boys and £200 to Mintlaw Under 5’s.

A percentage of the money raised was down to a collection that Granny Doreen had at her recent birthday, requesting donations in lieu of gifts.

Both Cameron and Doreen would like to thank everyone who has supported them and donated to the worthy cause.

After a few breaks Bracken successfully made it to the top and was just as glad as Cameron was to make it!
