Children at Hi! Class Preschool Centre in Peterhead are celebrating after successfully receiving a Silver eco award.
The children were given the Silver Award in the Eco-Schools Programme having undertaken litter picks at Ugie Beach, recycled various items at local recycling centres and used waste water to help their plants grow.
Everyone at Hi! Class are now working towards gaining the Green Flag.
Eco-Schools is an initiative designed to encourage youngsters to learn about recycling and how to look after the environment.
Eco-Schools, which recently marked its 20th anniversary, is part of the Keep Scotland Beautiful Charity.
It works with children of all ages from pre-school and nursery to Academy.
Hi! Class Preschool Centre was opened in September 2013 by the owners of First Class Day Nursery in order to meet local demand for good quality early learning and education for children aged from three to five years.
The nursery, based at Blackhouse Industrial Estate, is staffed by qualified early years educators and supported by the operations manager and business manager of First Class Day Nursery.
They are joined by a development worker and early years coordinating teacher.
The setting’s first Care Inspection was very positive, achieving ‘good’ and ‘very good’ grades in some areas.
The children are now looking forward to their trip to the Macduff Marine Aquarium, a visit to the Buchan Meadows Community Woodland and taking part in the pirate-themed Barnardo’s Big Toddle in the near future.
