Dales Park School has opened a new ‘trim trail’ for its pupils.
The obstacle course designed for children will become the main feature of the school’s playpark which previously had no equipment.
Funding was made possible after the school received £10,000 of National Lottery funding.
This was added onto money raised from other sources which included £2,600 of donations from stakeholders, £5,000 raised by the parent council through events and £2,090 raised by the pupils through their sponsored walk and danceathon.
Speaking to the Buchanie, deputy head teacher Jennifer Adam said she was delighted that the school would finally have something for the kids in the play area: “We’re delighted that the children will have a more exciting experience in the playground and that we’ll have equipment that any pupil can use despite their physical ability or limitations.
“Before it was just grass and concrete and in the winter when it’s wet the grass is off limits so the kids were really limited in what they could do.
“We started the work in November so it’s been a quick turnaround, and the trail should be ready for the kids to use this week.”
