WITH just over two weeks to go until the inaugural Aden Bike Challenge, Mintlaw Primary pupils gave their backing to the event by cycling a section of the Challenge route at Aden Park.

Families and individuals are being encouraged to get on their bikes this Spring and take part in Buchan’s first family-friendly bike ride, to be held on Sunday, March 18.

The Aden Bike Challenge is a scenic ten-mile trail which will start from Peterhead Community Centre, go along the Formartine and Buchan Way and end at Aden Country Park in Mintlaw.

On arrival at Aden, each participant will receive a warm welcome, event memento, certificate and goody bag.

In addition there will be a range of activities, facilities, exhibition stalls, stands on offer, including a Bike Ride Show and plans for a farmers market.

A predominantly traffic-free cycle route, the event is suitable for everyone, regardless of biking experience or fitness.

Individuals, friends, families and groups are all welcome to go along for a wonderful boking day out in Buchan.

An optional shuttle bus and lorry transport service is also available from Aden Country Park at both the beginning and end of the event to ferry participants, their bikes and supporters from Aden to the start line in Peterhead.

Event participants can register at either Aden Country Park or the start line at Peterhead Community Centre.

Registration will be open from 9.30am to 1.30pm at Aden and from 10.30am to 2.30pm at Peterhead.

Entry is £6 per adult and £3 per child/young person (17 years and under). Participants aged 16 years and under require signed parental/guardian consent to take part and children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult on the ride.

The event is being organised in partnership with Aberdeenshire Council, Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, Buchan Development Partnership, NHS Grampian, Aberdeenshire Community Planning Partnership and Getabout. All proceeds will go to support the vital services provided by Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland to the community in the North East of Scotland.
