On Wednesday, June 3, Dales Park School in Peterhead held its first ever Young Singer of the Year competition.
More than 50 children had auditioned preveiously for the event, with ten juniors and seven seniors progressing to the final stage.
The finalists were given two weeks to prepare their solo performances with help from Miss Sutherland and Miss Gillies.
On the night all the children produced amazing performances and made everyone incredibly proud.
Junior finalists were: Aimee Clark, Gabrielle Valincuite, Becky Turriff, Shannon Davidson, Kaitlyn Clark, Mia Spriggs, Emily Murdoch, Grace Duncan, Sophie McLeman and Grace Johnston.
Senior finalists were Hallie Russell, Kaela Davidson, Freya Donaldson, Sheanna Baird, Kyla Mundie, Eve Donovan and Caitlyn Cruickshank.
Judges for the event were Emma-Jane Whitehead, Claire Watson and Nicola Forbes, who had an incredibly tough job deciding the winners.
However, at the end of the night Grace Johnston took first place in the junior section, with Sophie McLeman taking the runner-up spot.
In the seniors, the winner was Caitlyn Cruickshank with Eve Donvan in runner-up spot.
A school spokesperson told the Buchanie: “Overall the night was a great success.
“We had additional performances from the P7 vocal group and the school choir, all of whom were an absolute credit to the school.
“With the success of this year were are now hoping to make the competition an annual event.”
