Buchanhaven Primary School showcased their Primary 7 Musical ‘The Buchanhaven School of Rock’ to family and friends recently.

The 65 Primary 7s worked tirelessly for the past term designing the project from the beginning, with their teachers Mark Watson, Elizabeth Barbour and Elizabeth Milne.

Parents, family and friends arrived in their hundreds to the show and were greeted by MODO Circus’ fire dancers and stilt walkers, whom were performing to rock music at the school entrance.

Before entering the performance hall, audience members were able purchase some of the show’s merchandise which the pupils had designed as part of the ambitious enterprise.

The audience was then treated to the spectacular show which included many classic rock songs from Van Halen, Kiss and AC/DC.

The audience were on their feet for the children’s finale, singing along to ‘Don’t Stop Believin’ while watching some of the pupils performing incredible acrobatics and the use of confetti cannons to create an unbelievable final display.

Class teacher Mr Watson said: “We are all so proud of this year group of children and all they have achieved during their final term as Primary 7’s before they move onto the academy.”

Depute head teacher Mrs Stephen also expressed how proud she was of the pupils and the mark they have left on Buchanhaven.

The show was tremendously supported by many local businesses who offered both financial support and raffle prizes to help raise money and by the local community who supported them through open days and school fundraising events.

Through this remarkable enterprise, the primary 7s have managed to make a profit of well over £2,500.
