Peterhead Academy has been nominated for a UK wide performance competition and are looking to get more ‘likes’ on social media to win.
The Blue Toon school has been nominated as one of the 12 best ‘moments or scenes of the year’.
The moment, at a end of year show, was the impressive feat of a costume change in just five seconds.
They are, at time of writing, second in the UK Rock Challnege.
The challenge is a series of performing arts events which ‘promote healthy life choices’.
The competition is a people’s choice award and is judged by Facebook ‘likes’, with Cumbria school Westlakes Academy currently in the lead.
But Peterhead are close behind.
The video can be found on https://www.facebook.com/RockChallenge/timeline and by scrolling down ‘likes’ and ‘shares’ can ring up support for the local school.
Voting for the competition closes on Friday at noon, where the school with most likes will win.
Judges were said to be ‘mesmerised’ by the story of a mad scientist who attempts to rid the world of hunger in the year 3015.
Peterhead Academy were the only Scottish team to compete in the premier division in 2015, and the clip shown was taken from their performance at the National Final, held at Milton Keynes Theatre on Monday, July 6.
UK Rock Challenge’s Samantha Eastwood said: “We have been overwhelmed by the support and excitement that has been created by this competition.
“It has been great to see so many schools and young people enjoying the hard work.
“Already, Peterhead Academy have achieved over 1200 likes, which is more than any post we have created before.”
