Two local ladies have been fundraising to place baby changing facilities in the Buchan area.
Lesley Carle and her daughter Valleri came up with the idea after Valleri had to change her daughter Charleigh’s nappy on a cold floor, on a mat in Boddam Hall’s disabled toilet when they attended a birthday party there.
They then began to notice other places with no baby changing facilities.
When Valleri enrolled Charleigh at the ‘mums and tots’ group in Boddam she approached the chairperson of the Committee there to see if they could install a changing unit for them.
Lesley approached the Buchanhaven Heritage Committee, which she belongs to, about installing a unit at the Heritage Centre.
Both facilities were happy to accept the offer and fundraising began including a car boot sale and two quizzes over the last few months.
Boddam Hall’s unit was installed in early February, followed last week with one being fitted by George Cameron, Committee member, at the Buchanhaven Heritage Society.
If other groups are in need of this facility visit the Baby Changing for Peterhead and surrounding areas Facebook page to contact Lesley and Valleri.
