Mintlaw small-holder and joiner Stephen Urquhart was presented with an early Christmas present in the form of a beautifully restored 1971 David Brown 780 tractor.
The tractor, which was the prize in a raffle that recently raised £20,000 for RSABI, is the Christmas gift that Stephen had always wanted.
Kindly donated by Russell McNab of Springs Farm in Ayrshire, the tractor was expertly restored by members of the Ayrshire Vintage Tractor and Machinery Club (AVTMC) in the workshop of John H. McNae, with the raffle itself supported by members of the RSABI Ayrshire Volunteer Committee led by Gregor Caldwell.
Stephen, who grew up on a croft and now lives near the Buchan village, was just eight years old when his neighbour bought a brand new white David Brown tractor and he has been an admirer of them ever since.
Now a self-employed joiner, Stephen plans to keep the David Brown in a shed on his smallholding, using it as a snowplough during bad weather and taking it to local events during the summer.
Stephen collected the keys to his new tractor from the AVTMC and the RSABI Ayrshire Volunteer committee at a joint reception held in Ayrshire recently.
