RESIDENTS of Strichen woke to a crime scene on Sunday after a group of thieves stole an ATM from a convenience store.
Investigations are continuing after an automated teller machine was stolen from the Co-Op on Bridge Street at approximately 3am on August 7.
It is thought that the thieves used a blue Land Rover, registration UIW 1214, to pull the ATM from the store, and a silver Ford Galaxy, registration LW05 MFK for their getaway.
The raiders smashed their way through the shop door with a sledgehammer, before attaching a strap to the machine.
It is unsure how much money was in the ATM at the time.
At the time of the incident a group of around three to five of people wearing hooded jumpers were seen at the Co-Op and Police are keen to trace those involved.
Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact Grampian Police on 0845 600 5 700 or the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
