An 88-year-old man has been left shocked following the theft of his car wheel and wheel trims right outside his home at the weekend.
John Coull, who lives at Roanheads Sheltered Housing in Peterhead, first noticed the theft at around midday on Sunday 29 July, when he was about to visit his wife’s grave at a local cemetery.
Mr Coull’s granddaughter then phoned the police to inform them of the incident.
As well as the front wheel, a wheel trim and wheel nuts were also stolen from Mr Coull’s light-blue Ford Ka.
Mr Coull replaced his tyres only last year.
It is thought that the incident took place late on Saturday night or in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Commenting on the situation Mr Coull said: “Whoever did this took the wheel nuts as well so I can’t even put on my spare wheel. I have been left completely immobilised.
“Whoever carried this out must have come well-prepared. They must have brought equipment to jack up my car and even left wood to hold the car up.
“It is a terrible shock. Sheltered housing is supposed to be a safe environment but this makes me feel uncomfortable in my own home,” he added.
