Police Scotland have charged a 19-year-old male following allegations of racial abuse at at Scottish League Two football match.
During Saturday’s clash between Peterhead FC and East Stirlingshire at Balmoor, visiting player Jordan Tapping was the target of abuse.
Following an investigation, a man was arrested and charged last night.
Inspector Andy Imray of the Buchan Community Policing Team said: “We would like to thank both Peterhead and East Stirling for their co-operation.
“It is with their assistance and the help of supporters at the ground that we have been able to bring this unacceptable incident to a prompt conclusion.
“It is important to emphasise that the local community and football clubs along with their supporters will not tolerate such behaviour and Police Scotland will work with them to ensure those responsible are caught and brought before the courts”.
The man is expected to appear at Peterhead Sheriff Court later today (Wednesday).
