There’s no time quite like Christmas for special deliveries, and this year Santa isn’t the only one delivering gifts.
His Majesty’s Theatre in Aberdeen is giving away 300 tickets to their spectacular panto Dick McWhittington, to local community groups and charities.
Aberdeen Performing Arts (APA), the company which runs the theatre, and the producers of the show, Qdos Entertainment, are inviting groups to apply for the tickets through an application form on APA’s website by Monday, October 31.
The successful groups will be allocated tickets to the panto performance on Sunday, December 4.
And their youngsters will enjoy a trip to HMT to see the spectacular panto Dick McWhittington, starring Elaine C Smith as the Spirit of the Don, Alan McHughas the Quinie Frae Rhynie and Jordan Young as Ba’heid Boabby.
The show is being staged by the same team that brought you the fantastic production of Peter Pan last year, with lavish sets, fabulous costumes, and an abundance of comedy.
This year’s production, penned by Alan McHugh, follows the hero Dick McWhittington, joined by his trusty cat Tomtom, as he seeks fame, fortune and happiness to become Lord Provost of Aberdeen. His fun-filled adventure sends him from the North Sea to the High Sea and headed for Morocco. Can he outwit the evil rodent King Rat and free Aberdeen from his team of revolting rodents and win the beautiful Alice’s hand in marriage?
Communications officer Erica Banks said: "We are delighted to be able to offer tickets for Dick McWhittington to community groups who might not otherwise get to visit the theatre at Christmas.
“The HMT panto is a brilliant festive tradition for a lot of people, and for many children it is their first experience of live theatre - we would like to share that magical excitement with as many North-east people as we can.”
Application forms can be downloaded from the APA website under the Dick McWhittington show page. Completed forms can be emailed email@example.com, posted to: Alice Mills, The Lemon Tree, 5 West North Street, Aberdeen, AB24 5AT, or dropped off at The Lemon Tree or HMT box offices.
They must be in before Monday, October 31 at noon, marked FREE PANTO TICKETS and the successful groups will be told by Friday, November 11.
Unfortunately, due to the anticipated high level of applications, unsuccessful applicants will not be notified.
