Peterhead's Catriona Carter has scooped this year's Great Buchan Bake Off title at a mouth-watering event at the town's Rescue Hall..

There was a large audience for this year's event, which was sponsored by Murdoch Allan, and had the theme 'The Year of Red Velvet'.

Judges for the bake-off were Lorraine Cumming and Mandy Whyte, head confectioners at Murdoch Allan in Hatton, and there were 12 cakes entered into the competition.

Catriona's sumptous bake earned her top marks from the judging panel - the first time someone from Peterhead has won the bake-off.

Amanda Beagrie, also from Peterhead took second place while Suzy Chiverell of Longhaven was in third.

Organisers thanked everyone who went along to watch the event - and to all who took part - with special mention going to Danielle, Mandy and Lorraine from Murdoch Allan.

As well as the bake-off, those spectating were given the opportunity to try their hand at making strawberry tarts and enjoyed a cake making demonstration by Jenny Betts of the Scottish Week Committee.
