The Great Buchan Bake-Off returned to Scottish Week for a second year on Monday.
Promoted as ‘The Year of the Carrot Cake, 19 entrants submitted their cakes to the judges at the Rescue Hall.
As the judging got underway, spectators were treated to the art of making strawberry tarts by Danielle McIntosh.
This was enjoyed by the youngsters in particular, allowing them to get into a sticky mess of jam and cream.
Jenny Betts was on hand to provide cake decorating demonstration and got a great round of applause from onlookers.
The packed hall enjoyed a cup of tea and a fine piece courtesy of Murdoch Allan prior to the announcement of the results.
The winning cake came from Philippine-born Minerva Matthews from Maud, while second and third spots went to a Fraserburgh duo that now reside in Peterhead, Veronica Smith and Fiona Carnegie respectively.
Event organiser, Scott Ross, was delighted with the turnout and thanked everyone who came along, participated and helped.
Next year’s cake theme will be Red Velvet Cake. Best get practicing!
