ZANRE’S Queen Street has been sold to Ellishill Enterprises - owners of The Mintlaw Chipper - for a figure in excess of £500,000.

David Forman, managing director of Ellishill Enterprises, assures commitment to provide the best quality fish from local fishing vessels, traditional home cooking and first rate practice to give the discerning customer an “excellent Zanre’s supper”.

General manager Sarah Geary is delighted, after her successful venture in Mintlaw, to be returning to Queen Street where she started her career at the age of 14.

Sarah said: “I am looking forward to the challenge ahead. Whilst excelling in our traditional fish suppers and existing range, we will be introducing new products, for example our Jumbo Battered Scampi, which has become a favourite at The Mintlaw Chipper.

“These luxury North Sea prawns are supplied to us exclusively by Macduff Shellfish, Mintlaw, and this mouth-watering dish is fast becoming one of our biggest sellers.

“We will be striving to improve all aspects of Queen Street to provide an efficient and top quality service.”

Eddie Mair, managing director of Eddie Mair Ltd, commented on the sales: “I am delighted with the sale of Zanre’s Queen Street and wish Sarah and her business partners David and Natalie Forman every success for the future.

“After 20 years’ involvement with the business of Zanre’s Queen Street as both employee and owner, I feel that the time is now right for me to move on to new ventures.

“I know that Zanre’s Queen Street will benefit from new management which will re-invigorate this award-winning business.”

Mr Mair will continue his involvement in the industry with his remaining outlets in both Fraserburgh and Peterhead.
