Aberdeenshire Council has joined forces with VisitScotland to help local accommodation providers maximise their business.
The council has put a range of initiatives in place to support bed and breakfast, guest house and hotel businesses to promote and improve their services.
The initiatives include provision of free and low-interest loans for help with working capital or service improvements, promotion of quality assurance schemes, introductory funding for participation in the VisitScotland Quality Assurance Scheme, funding for visits from advisers to help boost star ratings and advice on using online booking, social media, websites and Wi-Fi provision.
Aberdeenshire Council is organising a series of presentations and workshops with serviced accommodation businesses to highlight the benefits of quality assurance schemes and how both the Council and VisitScotland can support businesses at a local level.
One of these will be held at the Buchan Braes Hotel in Boddam today (Tuesday) from 1pm – 3.30pm.
Head of Economic Development for Aberdeenshire Council Belinda Miller said: “With increasing competition and higher expectations, particularly from international visitors, there has never been a better time to capitalise on quality assurance schemes.
“Aberdeenshire Council is very keen to encourage local hotel, bed and breakfast and guest house operators to use quality assurance schemes as a means of promoting the quality of service that clearly exists, as well as learning from good practice elsewhere.”
The events will include presentations and workshops highlighting the benefits of quality assurance schemes and support available from the local authority and VisitScotland.
